RENOBENCH / FLOORING PLANNING
Estimate material quantities and a flooring budget for one rectangular room. Enter the coverage per box or carton, supplier prices, installation labor, removal, disposal, sales tax, and contingency. Use any flooring sold by the box when its coverage is stated in square feet; setting-material fields are optional and depend on your product.
Uses the prices you enter. No regional price database or live contractor estimates.
Calculate floor area and round tile purchases up to full cartons.
For a rectangular floor. Measurements use decimal feet: 8 ft 6 in = 8.5 ft. The area includes the entire rectangle; adjust dimensions or split irregular rooms before using this worksheet. The 10% extra tile allowance is editable. Confirm layout and cutting needs with your installer.
Use the coverage and carton price shown on your tile packaging.
This worksheet is designed for tile flooring sold by the carton. Enter waterproofing, underlayment, setting materials, and trim separately. Check that all materials are compatible with your floor system.
Separate installation from the other work your project needs.
Floor installation uses room area, without the extra tile allowance. Enter demolition labor and disposal separately only when needed. This version does not calculate subfloor repairs, transitions, or stair installation; confirm those separately and enter the amounts under other costs / repairs.
Make the assumptions visible and adjust them to your project.
Tax applies only to the selected share of materials and fixtures. Enter 0% if your material amounts already include tax. Labor tax is not calculated; include any additional applicable tax in other project costs. The reserve applies to the complete entered subtotal, including tax. Confirm tax treatment and permit costs locally.
Multiply room length by width. Add your chosen extra-material allowance, divide by the square feet covered per box, and round up to a whole box. Confirm the allowance with your installer for the product and layout.
Worked example: A 10 ft × 8 ft room is 80 sq ft. With a 10% allowance, the target is 88 sq ft. At 15.5 sq ft per box, buy 6 boxes. At a fictional $62 per box, flooring costs $372. A fictional installation rate of $8 per sq ft adds $640 before other costs, tax, and contingency.
For L-shaped rooms, calculate the total area separately and enter equivalent rectangular dimensions with that same area. This tool does not calculate linear trim, stairs, adhesive coverage, moisture suitability, or structural repairs.

Monetary line items are rounded to cents before totals are added. Floor area is displayed to two decimal places; the tile calculation uses the entered dimensions. Check the quantities and scope with your supplier and contractor before purchasing.
No. Sample amounts are fictional and demonstrate how the worksheet works. They are not local price references. Replace them with supplier prices for your project.
It calculates tile and specified costs for one rectangular floor. It does not measure irregular layouts, stairs, subfloor repairs, transitions, or hidden damage. Ask your installer to confirm those costs and enter them under other costs / repairs. It does not calculate permit costs or determine tax rules.
No. A blank or zero is excluded from the budget. Use it only for work you do not need or amounts included elsewhere. The worksheet cannot tell whether your project scope is complete.
